Toni Hayden

Toni Hayden was born at Woodbridge, Suffolk on 22 August 1938. She was educated at Notre Dame High School, Norwich 1951-1954 and studied at Norwich School of Art 1954-1955 under Noël Spencer (1900-1986). Toni was an art tutor for Norwich County Council and a self-employed tutor of life drawing, portraiture, drawing and painting, with summer Schools in Venice, Puglia, Istanbul, Sicily, Crete, Marrakech, Gozo, Berne, Corfu, Santorini. Toni Hayden was a Fellow of the Linnean Society and a Royal Horticultural Society medallist and a professional artist and calligrapher, graphite figure drawings, animal and flower paintings in gouache and pencil portraits and has won numerous awards for her work, which is represented in the collections of the British Museum (NH), the Victoria and Albert Museum, The Shirley Sherwood Gallery and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, USA. Toni was an exhibitor of fine art, silk painting and book design and has also exhibited at Yasuda Kasai, Tokyo; Royal Horticultural Society; Society of Botanical Artists; Mall Galleries, London; Hunt Gallery, Texas, USA and elsewhere. Toni Hayden lived at 6 Belvedere Place, Norwich where she died on 5 July 2025 aged 86, leaving two sons Benjamin and Joseph.
