ROBINSON, Miles
Miles Robinson was born at Ipswich in 1952, son of Maurice Henry Robinson (2 October 1908-1972), a fitter, and his wife Juliet Sheila Melinda Elizabeth née Nunn (4 April 1923-14 December 1975), who married at Ipswich in 1945. Miles studied at Ipswich School of Art and at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art. He then ran a studio in Dorset for two years before returning to Ipswich, taking classes at Suffolk College and teaching sculpture privately from his own studio near Ipswich. One of Miles's best known Ipswich sculptures was 'Grandma' of Carl Giles which was unveiled at Ipswich in September 1993 by comedian Warren Mitchell in the presence of Johnny Speight and Carl Giles himself.
