ALLEN, Madeline

1880 - 1934

Madeline Allen was born at 8 Shenley Road, Camberwell, London in 1880, daughter of George Biffen Allen (1852-15 November 1925), law stationer, and his wife Eliza Ann née Felgate (1852-), who married at Ipswich 1876. In 1881, newly born Madeline was living at Shenley Road, Camberwell with her parents, 29-year-old George and 28-year-old Eliza, who was born at Ipswich. In 1891, they were visitors at Warwick Road, Ipswich, the home of 48-year-old widow Jane M. Hammond. Madeline studied at the Ipswich School of Art and won third prize in the 'Shading Ornament from the Cast (Advanced) in February 1900. Madeline married at All Saints' Church, Ipswich on 29 August 1907, Thomas Wilfrid Field (1880-12 May 1954) and in 1911 they were living at 67 Palgrave Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk where Thomas was a 31-year-old commercial traveller, with their 2-year-old daughter Margaret Isabel, born at Great Yarmouth. Madeline Field died at Hill House, Manningtree, Essex on 19 November 1934.
