PYETT, Claude Arthur

1876 - 1903

Claude Arthur Pyett, was born at Christchurch, New Zealand in 1876, son of Thomas Pyett and his wife Anne née Borrett, who married at Yoxford, Suffolk in 1867. In 1881, a 5 year old, living at Barons Buildings, 1 St George's Street, Ipswich with his 42 year old widowed mother, Annie, a grocer, and siblings Caroline Amelia 11 and Ernest Edward 9 both born at Christchurch, New Zealand and Ida 7, born at Canterbury, New Zealand, an elder daughter Grace Caroline (1868-1869) was born and died in New Zealand. Claude studied at Ipswich School of Art and in February 1900, won 1st prize in the 'Drawing in Outline from the Cast' class. Claude Arthur Pyett, journalist, died at Ipswich on 2 October 1903, aged 27, he was unmarried and left his estate to his mother.
