Alison Calvesbert-Reardon

Alison Calvesbert was born at Ipswich in 1979, daughter of Ivor Octavius Calvesbert (21 August 1927-22 November 2010) and his wife Lydia G. née Oldman (born 1937), who married in the Samford district of Suffolk in 1967 and Alison spent her childhood at Bawdsey on the Suffolk Coast at Woodbridge. After completing her degree in Fine Art Printmaking at Loughborough University, Leicestershire, Alison returned to Bawdsey and converted an outhouse in the garden to a fully functional studio space and became involved with Suffolk Open Studios. Her art inspiration comes from the memories when immersed in the environments of the East Anglian Coast but also through extensive knowledge of other artists such as Tacita Dean (born 1965) and Terry Setch (born 1936). Alison's other works include etching prints on plaster blocks and 3D sculptural works, screen prints and collagraph prints, all of which reflect the many changing facets of the Easterly shoreline. She has exhibited extensively in Suffolk and elsewhere and is active in the promotion of her own artwork, whilst also an art teacher of students at High Schools. Alison has her studio at 24 The Street, Bawdsey, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
