POWELL, Clare
As Clare L. E. Snowden, she was born in Basutoland, now named Lesotho, Southern Africa on 9 June 1944. She married at Westminster, London in 1973, Richard F. Powell and works under the name of Clare Powell. Clare studied for her Fine Art B.A. at Cape Town University and in her early 20s, came to live in England where she enjoyed a career in promoting diamond jewellery for De Beers. Clare aimed to be a botanical illustrator which resulted in a particular love of painting flowers and landscapes. She has painted in oils, but her current favourite media is watercolour and the beauty of letting the paint tell the story. A member of the Suffolk Art Society and she now lives at Poslingford, Sudbury, Suffolk.
