HARTEST ART GROUP
Hartest Art Group was a small, friendly, and enthusiastic group of artists of mixed ability, meeting at the Boxted and Hartest Institute. Whilst some members choose to work on their own projects, they had a professional tutor who demonstrates each week for about an hour and provided one-on-one guidance. The demonstrations covered a wide variety of subjects, using various mediums, and proved to be informative, inspiring, and often entertaining with much interaction! They also had occasional demonstrations by professional artists. There was also a significant social element to the club, with the opportunity to sketch and paint outside in pleasant weather at locations in mid-Suffolk, such as the Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmund's and Pin Mill near Ipswich, on the river Orwell. The Hartest Institute reopened in 2025 after a £90,000 revamp and the first group to use the renovated hall was the Hartest Art Group.
