Sue Heaser

Susan Mary Heaser was born at Karachi, Pakistan on 29 May 1952. Educated at Brummana High School, Lebanon 1968-1970, and studied on a foundation Art and Design course at Falmouth University 1970–1971, and at the University of Exeter for her B.A. (hons), Geography, Archaeology Subsidiary 1971-1974 and worked as an archaeological illustrator for English Heritage until 1979. Sue was an archaeological illustrator, working on jewellery and artefacts from sites all over Britain which led to an interest in jewellery and design, and she began making jewellery in both traditional and modern materials and has authored many books and articles on a variety of craft and design subjects and is acknowledged as a world-wide authority on polymer clay and metal clays. Sue is a professional artist, writer and craftswoman, whose skills range from painting, illustration and sculpture to glass engraving, scenery painting, textile crafts and pottery and she teaches watercolour painting and drawing classes at her studio at The Farthings, Long Green, Wortham, Suffolk also for local groups. She has recently completed the illustrations for Thornham Anglo-Saxon cemetery for Norwich Museum and is researching for a new book on Anglo-Saxon beads having published over 15 major craft books since 1995 and scores of magazine articles and smaller books, as well as two children's musicals. Her books have been translated into many different languages including Chinese and Japanese with her most popular book 'Polymer Clay Techniques Book', a best seller.
