SPEED, Peter
Peter J. Speed, was born at Dartford, Kent in 1948, son of Kenneth A Speed (16 November 1923-25 September 2013) and his wife Elsie Florence née Greenslade (1921-1999), who married at Dartford in 1947. Peter was educated at Braintree County High School in Essex and studied at Northeast Essex Technical College. In 2000 he retired as a Chartered Engineer and Project Manager with BAE Systems. An artist who now paints a variety of subjects for pleasure and for sale. Inspired by the landscapes and coastline of Suffolk, he often produces a series of works with a common theme, sometimes in monochrome, which enables buyers to match paintings to their décor. All his work is in acrylic, a versatile and vibrant medium that lends itself to conventional techniques but also facilitates experimentation. Landscapes and seascapes are his special interest, and he also works on commissions. A member of the Bury St Edmund's Art Society from Highbank Nursery, The Hill, Stanstead, Sudbury, Suffolk.
