BEVEN, Sue

1931 - ?

Susan Beatrice Ladbrook was born in October 1931, and she married in Surrey in 1961 Herbert Dudley Beven (born 1932), and paints as Sue Beven. Sue has painted since a child, her earliest success being in 1940, when awarded Royal Drawing Society exhibition prize for landscapes. Sue studied at a secretarial college and became an Account Executive for one of the largest advertising agencies in post-war London. After her marriage, she continued to sketch and enrolled at the School of Art and Design at Colchester Institute on a three-year Visual Studies course but having had no formal art training, she had a lot of studying to bring her basic knowledge up to standard before graduating. Sue has since studied with Belinda King, who broadened her understanding of all aspects of painting and has now developed a style into semi-abstract work, putting her imagination to work. A member of the Suffolk Art Society from Boxford, Sudbury, Suffolk.
