TURNER, Mary Isabella
Mary Isabella Turner was born at Cotton Rectory, Stowmarket, Suffolk and baptised on 25 October 1856, only child of Revd Michael Turner (1817-1 March 1903), rector of Cotton, and his wife Mary Anne Carlyon (1822-1875), daughter of Revd Philip Carlyon and Mary née Phear, Michael and Mary Anne married at St Austell, Cornwall on 7 November 1855. Mary Isabella studied at Ipswich School of Science & Art and in 1880 awarded her certificate of excellence in freehand model drawing. In 1881, a 24-year-old, living at Cotton Rectory with her 63-year-old widowed father and her 56-year-old father's sister Isaballa. Mary married, as his third wife, at Cotton on 29 June 1890, Revd Thomas Holt Wilson (1843-5 August 1919), rector of Redgrave-cum-Botesdale, Suffolk. In 1901, Mary was a 41-year-old, living at Redgrave, Suffolk with her 57-year-old husband Thomas Holt Wilson, with their five children, Michael Carlyon 8, Amos Nelson W. 7, Algernon Charles Winstanley 5, Joyce Philippa 3 and Rachel E. H. 1, all born at Redgrave. Mary Isabella Holt Wilson was of Lyngarth, Oxshott, Surrey when she died at the Girls Friendly Society Home of Rest, Hanley Terrace, Malvern Wells, Worcestershire on 7 September 1938.
