PAMPHILON, Ned
'Ned' Pamphilon, was born London in January 1963 and has lived in Coney Weston, Suffolk since 1967. Educated at Thetford Nursery School on the Norfolk/Suffolk border and studied for his B.A. (hons) in Architecture from London. He went on to become a D.J. at London's Soho renowned Marquee Club and, making his first visit to Turkey while singing with a band touring European countries in 1988, has spent over 25 years away and abroad. Ned has always been into art, and music gradually took a back seat as painting became his primary focus and he has painted landscapes to portraits, including 'St Edmund' and 'The Queen' which were displayed in Bury St Edmund's Cathedral and 'Thomas Paine' which is in Thetford Library. Ned had his first art exhibition in Istanbul in 1995 and over the years has become increasingly involved with the country and the Turkish people; from producing a first contemporary art exhibition at the Grand Bazaar in 1999 ‘Istanbul? Yeah!’ to ‘Her Yer Mustafa Her Yer Kemal’ at Palladium shopping mall in 2014. He has also exhibited in Texas, USA; Adam Street London, and locally in Suffolk at Coney Weston; Redgrave Church; Waveney Springs Art Collective; Highwayman's Gallery, Risby and at Gresham School, Norfolk. His commissions, exhibitions and projects have come from Saudi Arabia to Malaysia and in 2013, Brian Sewell, London 'Evening Standard' art critic noted “Ned Pamphilon is the Constable of Coney Weston”.
