GROSSMITH, Lucy
As Lucy Case, she was born at Horncastle, Lincolnshire in 1972, daughter of Donald Case and his wife Jennifer née Murphy, who married at Newmarket, Suffolk in 1966, and Lucy grew up in the Lincolnshire countryside. She married at St Albans, Hertfordshire in 2000, Daniel Adam Grossmith, and paints under the name of Lucy Grossmith. Lucy has always been surrounded and inspired by nature and she sketches and makes mental notes whilst out and about which become ingredients for her paintings, remembering the colours and textures of the landscape, noticing the effects of the changing seasons and weather, to use when back in her studio at the bottom of her garden at Chequers Lane, Sudbury, Suffolk. She paints wild birds and animals, countryside, and coastal scenery along with gardens, old buildings and of country life.
