BIDDLECOMBE, Annie Amelia
Annie Amelia Biddlecombe was born at Woodbine Terrace, Victoria Road, Romford, Essex on 26 August 1865, daughter of Henry Biddlecombe (19 January 1836-19 April 1906), a druggist, and his wife Sarah Matilda née Dodwell (29 March 1840-19 July 1903). In 1871, Annie was a 5-year-old living at Woodbine Terrace, Romford with her parents, 34-year-old Henry and 30-year-old Sarah, and a sibling brother Walter Harry (1867-1970), and two Dodwell relations. By 1875 they had moved to Ipswich where, in 1881, Annie was a 15-year-old student, living at 1 Norwich Road, Ipswich with her parents, Henry 44, now a pastrycook, and Sarah 39, with siblings Walter Henry 14, Percy Edward 8, both born at Romford, and Fred Thomas 5, who was born at Ipswich. Annie studied at the Ipswich School of Science & Art and in 1880 gained a certificate in freehand drawing. Around 1884 the family emigrated to the United States where Annie married at Wayne, Detroit, Michigan on 6 June 1893, Edward Thomas Atherton (1859-1941) and they had two sons Walter and Lenton. Annie Amelia Atherton died at 444 Baldwin Avenue, Birmingham, Oakland County, Michigan, USA on 6 March 1950 and buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
