BARKER, Florence
Florence Cater Barker was born at Edmonton, London in 1855, daughter of Frederick Barker, an accountant, and his wife Eliza Rebecca née Cater (or Cator), who married at Edmonton on 15 April 1850. Florence was educated at a school at Hatter Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk where she was boarding in 1871. She passed out of the Ipswich School of Science & Art in 1880 with a certificate in freehand drawing and in 1881, a 24-year-old, living at 50 Carr Street, Ipswich with her parents, 60-year-old Frederick and 50-year-old Eliza, with siblings Harriet E. 30, born Hackney, London, Arthur 20 and Alice 18, both born Hutton, Essex. Florence Cater Barker died unmarried at Pine Bungalow, Tilsmore Lane, Heathfield, Sussex on 5 November 1931.
