ALLEN, Roland
Roland Allen was born at Hoddeston, Hertfordshire on 29 November 1865 and baptised on 15 April 1866, son of Charles William Allen, a postmaster, and his wife Emma Lucy née [?]. In 1871, Roland was a 5-year-old, living at Beresford Street, Woolwich, London with his parents, 42-year-old Charles, 'no occupation', 43-year-old Emma,who was born in London, and siblings Emma M. M. 18 and Adelaide 15, both born in Adelaide, Australia and by 1881 his father was a photographer, living at 1 Hanover Place, St Dunstan, Blean, Kent having the same family. In 1891, Roland was a 25-year-old, still living at Hanover Place with his 67-year-old now widowed mother Emma. In 1916, an artist, living at 30 Freehold Road, Ipswich and by 1821 was a musician living at 31 Caerau Road, Newport, Monmouthshire with a 56-year-old lodger Eva Constance Allen, who was born in London, both as being married. Roland Allen died at Bedford on 10 May 1941.
