RIPLEY, Noël
Noël R. Ripley was born near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in 1944, son of Douglas Arthur Ripley (15 July 1922-1983) and his wife Beryl Margaret née Baines (21 January 1923-1996), who married at Amersham, Buckinghamshire in 1942. The family moved to East Anglia during the 1950s and Noël worked initially as a design engineer. Noël has always had a great love of painting and, in the late 70s, studied fine art restoration with an interest in the Dutch and British schools of 19th century. He has painted professionally since 1982, painting in the traditional manner capturing the charm of the 19th century landscape. He married at Brentwood, Essex in 1967, Jill C. Morrell and they lived at 2 Tollgate Road, Capel St Mary, Ipswich. The work of Noël Ripley can be found in collections both at home and abroad.
