LONGE, Louisa Roberta
Louisa Roberta Longe was born at Easton Rectory, Suffolk on 7 July 1842, daughter of Revd Henry Browne Longe (17 March 1803-27 January 1883), rector of Easton and later of Monewden, both in Suffolk, and his wife Anne Margaret née Nicholson (3 September 1812-7 July 1910), who married at Ufford, Suffolk on 31 August 1836. In 1871, as rector of Monewden, Henry was living at Copt Hall Place, Folkestone, Kent with his wife and four daughters, Celia Jane 32, Margaret Frances 30, Louisa and Rosa Elizabeth Bruce 26, all born in Suffolk. Louisa was a watercolour landscape painter, who exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club from Copt Hall Place, Folkestone 1890-1893, six works including ‘A Lane at Brockenhurst’, ‘Christchurch Priory, Hants’, and some Suffolk views. In 1901, her mother Anne, with daughters Louisa and Rosa, were living at 10 Victoria Grove, Folkestone and following the death of their mother Anne in 1910, Louisa and Rosa moved to 5 Connaught Road, Folkestone. Louisa Roberta Longe was of 9 Alexandra Gardens, Folkestone when she died 94 Cheriton Road, Folkestone on 9 August 1931, aged 89, she was unmarried.
