BEAUMONT, Herbert William
Herbert William Beaumont was born at Thorrington, Essex on 23 June 1873, eldest child of William Thomas Beaumont (14 December 1844-13 June 1919), a schoolmaster, and his wife Jessie née Went (5 December 1853-14 January 1940), who married at Tendring, Essex in 1871. In 1881, Herbert was a 7-year-old, living at School House, Colchester Road, Thorrington with his parents, 36-year-old William and 28-year-old Jessie, with three siblings, Walter Went 5, Jessie 3 and Joseph Percival 1, all born at Thorrington. Herbert studied at Colchester School of Art in the Albert School of Science and Art, winning several prizes for his art and where in 1899 he obtained his Art Teachers' Certificate and Art Masters' Certificate. He married at Penzance, Cornwall in 1907, Millicent Keast (30 September 1889-8 February 1975) and in 1911, a schoolmaster, living at 'Elmville', Rushmere Road, Ipswich with his wife Millicent and by 1921 had moved to 144 Foxhall Road, Ipswich where he was living with his wife and two sons Denis 5 and William 1 and his sisters-in-law Annie Keast. He exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club in 1937 from 104 Dover Road, Ipswich an oil 'Butley Woods' and a watercolour 'An Evening in September' and in 1944 a painting 'Out of the War'. Herbert William Beaumont died at 104 Dover Road, Ipswich on 5 February 1956.
