WATERS, Margaret Ann
Margaret Ann Waters was baptised at St Margaret's Church, Ipswich on 24 April 1864, daughter of Samuel Waters, a national schoolmaster & an accountant, and his wife Agnes Jean née White, who married at Sunderland in 1859. In 1871, Margaret was a 7-year-old, living at 71 Berners Street, Ipswich with her parents, 34-year-old Samuel and 36-year-old Agnes, with siblings, Samuel 8, Harry Chamberlayne 5, Bessie White 2, Alice Ann Chamberlayne 1 and newly born Herbert Ernest, all born at Ipswich. In 1881, a 17-year-old pupil teacher, living with her family at 24 Clarkson Street, Ipswich with two further siblings, Lucy Eveline 7 and Alfred John 5, both born at Ipswich. In 1880, she passed as excellent, for her certificate and was a prize winner in freehand drawing at Ipswich School of Science & Art. By 1891, Margaret was a 27-year-old postal order clerk, boarding at Beaufort Street, Chelsea, London.
