TURNER, Charles

Charles Turner was born at 1 Streatham Hill, Wandsworth, London on 6 December 1860, son of Harold Turner, a master coach builder, and his wife Mary Anne née Keer (1834-29 July 1920), eldest daughter of Francis Keer of Raydon Hall, Orford, who married at Orford, Suffolk on 16 June 1853. In 1861, Charles was a newly born, living at Streatham with his parents, 34-year-old Harold and 27-year-old Mary Anne, who was born at Orford, and siblings, Jessie 5, Lucy 3 and James 1, and Harold's 19-year-old sister-in-law Emma Keer and they retained four servants. Charles married at London City in 1887, Ivy Lewis (c1863-27 April 1895) and in 1891, a 30-year-old artist, living at Great Bealings, Suffolk with his 28-year-old wife Ivy and their 2-year-old son Charles Edgar, who was born at Charsfield, Suffolk in 1888. In 1901, their two sons, Charles Edgar and Harold George, were living at 159 Brigstock Road, Croydon, Surrey the home of their grandmother Mary Anne Turner. In 1911 his Mary Anne was a 77 year old widow living at 159 Brigstock Road Thornton Heath Surrey with her widowed daughter Lucy Forrest and granddaughter Nestor Sybil Forrest and other family members.
