HANCOCK, Helen Ramsay

1887 - 1965

As Nellie [Helen] Ramsay Paul, she was born at Fulham, London on 8 July 1887, daughter of Scottish born Rupert Paul (1852-26 January 1926), private secretary, and his wife Ellen née Ramsay (1854-1910), who married at Hampstead, London in 1877. In 1891, living at Bishop's Road, Fulham with her parents, 39-year-old Rupert and 36-year-old Helen, both born in Scotland, with siblings Rupert Aiken (1878-1935), Arthur James (1880-1958) and Allen (1884-1964), all born in London. In 1911, Helen was an art student living at 125 Hurlingham Road, Fulham with her widowed father, 59-year-old Rupert and in 1921 they were living at 36 Napier Court, Fulham, London. She married at Kensington, London in 1933, Eric Charles Beck Hancock (10 June 1888-21 May 1965), foreign correspondent, and in 1939 Helen was an 'artist painter' living at South Close, Walberswick, Suffolk. Helen Ramsay Hancock died at 22 Kensington Park Garden, Kensington, London W11 on 3 December 1965.
