CARTER, Edgar William
Edgar William Carter was born at 117 Vassall Road, Lambeth, London on 14 March 1886, youngest child of John Thomas Carter (1848-27 February 1901), sculptor, modeller and stained-glass artist, and his wife Mary Jane née Adams (1852-1917), who married at Southwark in 1878. In 1891, Edgar was a 5-year-old, living at Vassall Road, Lambeth with his parents, 42-year-old John and 38-year-old mother with three siblings, Dorothy Mary 11, Cyril G. 9 and John Edward 7. His father died at Vassall Road, Lambeth in 1901 and in 1911 his widow was living at 38 Tierney Road, Streatham Hill, London with Dorothy, a schoolteacher, John, a clerk and Edgar William, a draughtsman. Edgar married at Lowestoft, Suffolk in 1936, Eva Maud Hildyard, née Smith (31 May 1890-1967), and in 1939, Edgar was an artist and stained-glass artist, living at 37 Lyndhurst Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk. Edgar William Carter was of 37 Lyndhurst Road when he died at Lowestoft & North Suffolk Hospital, Lowestoft on 24 September 1953, leaving a widow.
