HUGHES, James
James Hughes was born around 1736. Described as a china decorator when he married at St Margaret's Church, Lowestoft on 19 October 1760, Susanna Browne (1739-1797), daughter of Robert Browne, the factory manager at the Lowestoft Porcelain Works. James and Susanna had six children, their penultimate child being William Hughes, a 'modeller' and 'painter' at the Lowestoft china works, who is believed to have gone to Worcester when the Lowestoft factory closed about 1802.
