BALLS, James
James Balls is listed by Richard Chaffer as a painter at the Lowestoft Porcelain Works. Probably the James Balls who was baptised at Lowestoft on 6 May 1771, one of the six children of James Balls and his wife Mary née Jones, who married at Lowestoft in 1769. There was another James Balls, son of James and Mary, but he moved to Chatham, Kent. James married at Lowestoft about 1799, Susannah Chambers (24 August 1774-1839) and had at least eleven children. James Balls died at Lowestoft on 9 May 1836 and buried at Lowestoft St Margaret's on 14 May 1836.
