BREWER, John Edward
John Edward Brewer was born at Victoria, Australia on 13 July 1868, son of John Brewer (1838-1914) and his wife Elizabeth Geraldine Byng née Scott (1844-1907). John first studied art at Lewes, Sussex and in April 1899 he moved to live at Downs Cottage, Epsom, Surrey. John married secondly at Epsom on 16 June 1900, Edith Nightingall, the sister of William and Arthur Nightingall, and their son was John Brewer. On 22 June 1900, John, sen., with his wife Edith, returned to Australia but they later returned to England and became the trainer for Park Lodge, Newmarket where they were living in 1911. He seems to have returned to Australia, as in the same year 1911, Brewer, in partnership with Richard Wootton, purchased the stud at the Kiscatoo Station, on the Lachlan river, N.S.W. John Edward Brewer died at Melbourne, Australia on 14 April 1931. (Racehouse Training at Epsom by Bill Eacott.)
