STEWARD, Florence Mary
As Florence Mary Syme, she was born at Cawnpore, Bengal, India on 26 September 1883 and baptised at St Mary, Benares on 13 October 1883, posthumous daughter of Charles Mulock Syme (19 March 1859-11 February 1883) and his wife Florence Teresa née Bidwell (7 December 1864-22 July 1959), who married at Benares on 20 September 1882. After the death of her husband Florence married again on 6 April 1889, William Shirres Robertson. Young Florence married at Kussowle, Bengal, India on 2 September 1907, Edward Merevale Steward (5 February 1881-1947), later a major-general in the army. In 1939 she was living with her husband at The Lodge, Caistor St Edmund, Norfolk and as Mrs F. M. Steward exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club in 1941 two paintings 'Watermouth Cave' and 'The Old Barn'. Florence Mary Steward died at Stowlangtoft Hall, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk on 4 April 1971.
