QUINLAN, Eve
As Eveline May Tomkins, she was born at Gorleston-with-Southtown, Suffolk (now Norfolk) on 12 February 1880, daughter of Revd Gerard William Tomkins (2 June 1842-3 August 1920) and his wife Mary Louise née Linton (1846-16 April 1927), who married at Oundle, Northamptonshire on 21 May 1867. Eveline married at Simla, Bengal, India on 24 July 1900, William Cooper (1874-1900), who died later that year. As Eveline May Cooper, she married secondly at Lahore, Bengal, India on 21 February 1905, Capt. Dominick Joseph Quinlan, of the Army Veterinary Department, of South Lodge, Co. Tipperary, Ireland but again the marriage was short lived with her husband dying at Quetta, Bengal on 23 June 1909, aged 34. In 1911, a 30-year-old widow, living at 8 Aldrington Road, Streatham, London with her parents, 68-year-old Gerard and 64-year-old Mary, with Eveline's 3-year-old daughter Joan Mary Quinlan (5 October 1908-9 March 2012), who was born at Quetta, Bengal. In 1927 when her mother died, they were living at East House, Dedham, Essex and in 1939 Eveline was living at Riverway, Lower Shiplake, Henley, Oxfordshire, the home of Revd Mackenzie Eland and his family. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and in 1941, as Mrs Eve Quinlan, she exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club 'Garden at Benton End' she also exhibiting at the Royal Society of British Artists in 1944. Eveline May Quinlan was of 48 Ladbroke Grove, London W.11 when she died at Swaylands, 22 Branksome Wood Road, Bournemouth on 27 February 1955.
