WOODS, Oliver
Oliver Woods was born at Creeting St Mary, Needham Market, near Ipswich in 1872, fourth child of Thomas Woods, an earthen potter/brick maker (1833-1922), and his wife Jane née Quinton (1838-1926), who married at Needham Market in 1863, he was a brother to Harry Woods. In 1891, Oliver was an 18-year-old grocer's apprentice, living at Hawk Mill Street, Barking, Suffolk with his parents, 57-year-old Thomas and 52-year-old Jane with four siblings, Grace 22, Charles 12, Frederick 11 and Charlotte Mary 8. Oliver exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club from Beech Terrace, Needham Market, Suffolk in 1898, an oil 'Close of Day' and in the following year as Olive [sic] Woods 'Stormy Weather'. Oliver Woods was buried at Creeting St Mary church on 5 December 1900.
