TURNER, Jessie
Jessie Turner was born at Little Ellingham Rectory, Norfolk on 23 May 1873, daughter of Revd Samuel William Turner (1834-25 November 1894), clerk in holy orders, and his wife Emily Arabella Francis Maria née Aldis (2 September 1836-29 August 1917), who married at St George's Hanover Square, London on 28 February 1859. In 1891, Jessie was a 17-year-old, living at The Rectory, Church Street, Little Ellingham with her parents, 56-year-old Samuel and 54-year-old Emily, and six siblings, Constance 27, born in China, Ethel 24, Gertrude 20, Laura 19, Beatrice 15 and Charles William Aldis 11. Her father died at Little Ellingham in 1894 and by 1911 Jessie had moved to Redholme, Westerfield Road, Ipswich with her widowed mother Emily. Jessie exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 119 St Helen's Street, Ipswich in 1927, a watercolour 'Grey Day, St Leonards-on-Sea'. In 1939, she was living on private means at 55 Christchurch Street, Ipswich. Jessie Turner was of 6 Westerfield Road, Ipswich when she died at St Edmund's Nursing Home, Ipswich on 25 February 1965, she was unmarried.
