NORTH, Florence Agnes
Florence Agnes North was born at Prestonville Terrace, Steyning, Brighton, Sussex on 5 October 1891, daughter of Thomas Henry North (18 November 1865-12 November 1948), a hatter, and his wife Kate Ruth née Farthing (1862-9 April 1933), who married at Mere, Wiltshire in 1889. By 1896, the family had moved to Suffolk and in 1901, Florence was a 9-year-old, living at 38 Tavern Street, Ipswich with her parents, 35-year-old Henry, now a tailor & woollen draper, and 38-year-old Kate, with three siblings, Douglas Henry 10 born at Brighton, Ivy Ruth 5 and Donald Rose 4, both born at Ipswich. In 1911, Florence was a 19-year-old assistant teacher, boarding at apartments at 62 Stradbroke Road, Southwold, Suffolk when her parents and siblings were living at 45 Anglesea Road, Ipswich. Florence exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from Hawarden, St Andrews Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1927, two paintings 'Rachel' and 'Shoreham'. In 1939, Florence Agnes North was an unmarried teacher in a secondary school, living at 17 Park Avenue, Felixstowe and she died at 37 Cobbold Road, Felixstowe on 7 April 1969, she was unmarried.
