BAKER, Lorina
As Lorina Hartley, she was born at Beccles, Suffolk on 23 October 1867 and baptised at St Michael's church, Beccles on 22 November 1867, daughter of Revd Alfred Octavius Hartley (28 February 1826-27 November 1888), principal of Fauconberge Grammar School, Beccles, and his second wife Ann née Knubley (14 February 1827-12 September 1905), who married at Kendall, Westmorland on 26 June 1860, Alfred had previously married at Beccles on 14 June 1856, Lorina Carthew Dashwood (14 October 1835-29 January 1859) and Ann, as Ann Jefferson had previously married at Whitehaven, Cumberland on 23 May 1849, Revd Miles Ponsonby Knubley (20 January 1826-13 June 1858). In 1871, Lorina was a 3-year-old, living at Vicarage House, Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire with her parents, 45-year-old Alfred and 44-year-old Ann, with siblings Henry A. 8, Charles 6, and stepsister Elizabeth Knubley 17. Lorina married at St Phillip's Church, Kensington, London on 29 September 1897, Bernard Granville Baker and in 1911 she was living at 1 Wellington House, Marylebone, London, her husband, who was an army officer, was absent. Lorina, as Mrs B. Granville Baker, was a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1928-1932 and her husband a member 1928-1957, both from St Mary's Road, Beccles, Suffolk. Lorina Granville Baker died at Cage Street, St Mary's Road, Beccles on 10 September 1942, aged 75.
