DORAN, Redmond

c.1819 - 1880

Redmond Doran was born in Ireland around 1819. In 1851, a 30-year-old decorative artist living at Street Mill Common, Somerleyton, Suffolk with his 30-year-old wife Bridget and 10-year-old daughter Jane, also both born in Ireland. An artist for the Lowestoft China Factory before he went to London where he was advertising in 1862 'painting, decorating & gilding, imitation marbles and mural ornamentation' from 6 Milton Street, Dorset Square, London and did work at both Buckingham Palace and Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. By 1865 he had moved to 5/15 Greek Street, Soho Square, London. Redmond Doran died at 2 Tranquilla Terrace, Fulham Road, Hammersmith, London on 21 May 1880, aged 61.
