HUNTLY, Walter Beresford

Walter Beresford Huntly, sometimes Huntley, was born at Little Mill, East Peckham, Malling, Kent in 1857 and baptised at Holy Trinity church, East Peckham on 10 January 1858, second child of Abraham Huntly (1818-1909), a gardener, and his wife Ann. In 1861, a 3 year old, living at Little Hill, East Peckham, Malling, with his parents, 43 year old Abraham and 33 year old Ann, with three siblings Ellen 9, William 6 and Agnes 1 and, as Huntley, they were still living at Peckham in 1871 with the addition of two sons Frederick 7 and Ernest 2. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour from London in 1908 and Assington, Suffolk in 1914. During the First World War, a gunner in the Royal Field Artillery, Royal Garrison Artillery.
