HUGHES, Marian

A Miss Marian Hughes, exhibited from Ipswich at the Royal Academy in 1860, an interior view of All Saintsí, Boyne Hill, Maidenhead .

This is probably Mary Ann Jane Hughes, who was baptised at Woodbridge, Suffolk on 28 November 1839, daughter of James Hughes (1812-1840), a saddler, and his wife Marian née Welton (c.1816-1890). On the death of her husband James in 1840, Marian married secondly at Woodbridge on 12 September 1841 George Dunnett, a tailor. In 1861, Marian or Maryann was a 21 year old, living at 64 Upper Orwell Street, Ipswich with her mother, 45 year old Marian Dunnett and her 45 year old stepfather George Dunnett and her sibling brother James Hughes 23, born in London and step-siblings George Brook Dunnett 18, Janet Dunnett 15, Harry Dunnett 8 and Rosa Dunnett 6, all born at Woodbridge. She married at Ipswich in 1861, Robert Dalby, a coppersmith, aged 29 she died at Tyler Street, Ipswich on 26 June and buried in Ipswich cemetery on 2 July 1869. Probate on her will was granted on 16 March 1871.
