HELLINGS, Herbert Wynn
Herbert Wynn Hellings was born at Alexander Road, Ipswich on 11 May 1873 and baptised at St Helen's Church, Ipswich on 27 July 1873, son of Joseph Isaac Hellings (1841-28 November 1931), a schoolmaster, and his wife Clara née Wynn (1843-1912), who married at Hadleigh, Suffolk in 1867. In 1881, Herbert was a 7-year-old, living at Elm Street, Ipswich with his parents, 39-year-old Joseph, who was born at Penryn, Cornwall and 37-year-old Clara, who was born at Kingston, Surrey and his four siblings, Frederick 11, Florence 10, Ernest 9 and Percy 4, all with the middle name of Wynn and all born at Ipswich. In 1885 Herbert was admitted to St Matthew's Voluntary Controlled Primary School, Ipswich and in 1901 his father, now a burial board clerk, and the family were living at Cemetery House, 212 Cemetery Road, Ipswich. Herbert married at Ipswich in 1905, Emma Daisy (sometimes Daisy Emma) Norman (12 November 1879-1949) and in 1911, a 38-year-old inspector at the waterworks, living at 3 Park Road, Ipswich with his 31-year-old wife Daisy Emma and 3-year-old daughter Freda Wynn. An Ipswich artist, known for his fine pencil drawings of animals and in 1939 was a 'pencil artist' living at 2 Trent Road, Ipswich with his wife Emma and daughter Freda [Bowman] (11 September 1907-1990). Herbert Wynn Helling died at Ipswich in 1948, aged 75 and his wife followed him the following year aged 69.
