As Lynne Irene Carnaby, she was born at Ilford, Essex in 1945, daughter of James Stewart Carnaby (22 November 1914-1988) and his wife Irene Ellen née Gale (10 March 1920-9 October 1996), who married at Ilford in 1940. Lynne married at Havering, Essex in 1966, Douglas F. J. Darling (born 1940) and paints under the name of Lynne Darling. An exhibitor at the Bury St Edmund's Art Society in 2012 from 5 Horringer Road, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk.
