Stuart Jarvis

Stuart Neil Jarvis, was born at Birmingham in 1977, son of Neil Jarvis and his wife Christine A. née Jukes, who married at Meriden, Warwickshire in 1972. Stuart studied at Nottingham Trent University 1995-1998 gaining a BA, Fine Art and gained his MA in Contemporary Art and Professional Practice at Colchester Institute, Essex in 2010. Art teacher at the Northgate School in Ipswich 2003-2006 and at St Benedict's Roman Catholic Upper School, Bury St Edmund's from 2006. An artist and a teacher, he is fascinated with the dead, the dying and the abject but although to visually represent direct suffering of others seems too literal, too real, however he is interested in the intolerable image and how we have arrived in an era of unavoidable image proliferation and consumption. A member and exhibitor at the March Hare Collective, Bury St Edmund's and has also exhibited at Firstsite, Colchester and Suffolk Showcase, Smiths Row, Bury St Edmund's from 27 Horsecroft Road, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk. In 2014 he took a position as Head of art and design technology at King's High School, St Benedict's Catholic School in Warwick.
