HARRISON, Frank William

1868 - 1947

Frank William Harrison was born at Lancaster, Lancashire on 17 October 1868, son of Thomas Harrison and his wife Elizabeth née Atkinson, who married at Lancaster in 1863. Frank studied at the Ipswich School of Art winning prizes in 1893. In 1901, a 31-year-old bank clerk, a boarder at 57 Berners Street, Ipswich, the home of 74-year-old widow Jane Cobbold Simpson. He married at Islington, London in 1905, Ella Alwina Helena Wilhelmina née Graeff (born 31 July 1879) and in 1911, a 42-year-old bank cashier, living at Thoroughfare, Woodbridge with his 31-year-old wife Ella, who was born at Islington, London and their 4-year-old son, Eric Graeff Harrison (12 June 1906-15 February 1976), who was born at Woodbridge. A landscape painter in watercolour and a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1932-1934, who exhibited from Lattice Cottage, Manwick Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1932 two watercolours, 'Farmyard, Capel Hall, Falkenham' and 'Farm Buildings, Searson's Farm, Trimley' and in 1933 from 'Kendal', Westmont Road, Esther, Surrey he exhibited two watercolours, 'A Surrey Pool' and 'Brockweir, Wye Valley'. In 1939, a retired bank official, living at 10 Westmont Road, Esher, Surrey with his wife Ella. Frank William Harrison died at 37 Newlands Avenue, Thames Ditton, Surrey on 29 August 1947, aged 78.
