HARMSTON, Harriet Ann
As Harriet Ann Brough, she was baptised at St Botolph's Church, Boston, Lincolnshire on 15 March 1822, daughter of Charles William Brough and his namesake wife Harriet Ann Brough. Harriet married at Helpringham, Lincolnshire on 24 November 1846, Henry Harmston (25 May 1817-29 July 1876). In 1851, Harriet was living at Market Place, Sleaford, Lincolnshire with her 34-year-old husband, a butcher. By 1853, they had moved to 2 Prairie, London Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk where Harriet was an artist in wax flowers, living with her husband Henry, now a grocer’s assistant. By 1861 they had moved to 95 High Street, Lowestoft and by 1871 Harriet was a 39-year-old artist, modelling wax flowers, and in leather, living at East Parade, Huddersfield where her husband was a poultry, fish & fruit dealer. They returned to Lowestoft where her husband died in 1876 and where Harriet kept a boarding house at 7 The Esplanade. Harriet Ann Harmston died at Lowestoft in January 1899, aged 76.
