CABLE, Leonard Joseph

1913 - 2002

Leonard Joseph Cable was born at 5 School Road, Oulton Broad, Suffolk, on 12 February 1913, fifth child and eldest son of William James Cable (13 June 1877-1958), foreman on the London North Eastern Railway, and his wife Alice Marion née Honeywood (24 March 1877-1968), who married at Carlton Colville, Suffolk on 11 February 1904. In 1939, Leonard was an unmarried fitter on the London North Eastern Railway, living at 69 Victoria Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk with his parents and sibling sister May (born 16 July 1918). Leonard married in the Lothingland district of Suffolk in 1940, Ethel May Tyrrell (21 September 1914-7 August 2006). He painted two fisherman scenes which are in the Lowestoft and East Suffolk Maritime Museum and, unless young Cable was very precocious, are incorrectly dated 1920, otherwise were painted by an older L. J. Cable of Lowestoft, who was an unknown artist and not living in Lowestoft in 1921. Leonard Joseph Cable died at 126 Long Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk and buried in Kirkley Cemetery on 26 April 2002.
