WHITE, Paula

As Paula C. White, she married in the Waveney district of Suffolk in 1980, William A. White. After graduating with a first-class degree in Design & Craft in 2000 Paula set up her own business as an artist and textile designer. Continuing with her own work she became a part-time Drawing and Printmaking lecturer for fourteen years until she applied for a place on the prestigious Children’s Book Illustration MA at the Cambridge School of Art taking her master's degree. A mixed media artist and printmaker, Paula is inspired by her surroundings and coastal towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold, with their charming quirky houses, fishing boats and the clean and vivid light, which is experienced on the East Coast. Paula assembles areas of paper collage, which is then work onto using a combination of acrylic, pencil, oil pastel, Indian ink, traditional printmaking techniques and machine stitching, to create original and detailed work. She works from her studio in Gainsborough Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
