WHALEY, Malcolm John

1938 - 1988

Malcolm John Whaley was born at 23 Avondale Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk on 25 November 1937, son of Stanley John Whaley (25 April 1905-1983), a blacksmith's striker, and his wife Evelyn née Hales (14 August 1908-30 December 1987), who married at Lowestoft in 1932. Malcolm married at Lowestoft in 1958, Norma P. Sidwell (born 1938). An amateur painter, who painted mostly aircraft and shipping with examples in the Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum and the Lowestoft & East Suffolk Maritime Museum. Malcolm John Whaley died in the Great Yarmouth district in 1988 and a bird hide was erected in Surlingham Church Marsh Nature Reserve in Norfolk which was donated by the friends of Malcolm J. Whaley and opened in January 1989.
