As Mary Unstead, she was born at Salford, Lancashire in 1944, youngest of the three daughters of Robert John Unstead (21 November 1915-1988), an author and school-teacher, and his wife Florence Margaret née Thomas (15 March 1917-2006), who married at Eastry, Kent in 1939 living at 'Kingsdown', Green Lane, St Albans, Hertfordshire. She married in the Blyth district of Suffolk in 1970, John R. Dixon and had two children and secondly the Deben district of Suffolk in 1988, Clive A. W. Miller and paints under the name of Mary Miller. She is an artist who contributed from 78 Abbey Road, Leiston to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2012 'Girl on the Shore' which realised 40 and as M. R. (Unstead) Miller in 2013 a watercolour 'Mijas, Spain'.
