Diddy Kirton

As Felicity Kathleen Farnes, she was born at Romford, Essex in 1950, daughter of Charles Stanley Farnes (24 June 1909-21 September 1971), a chartered surveyor, and his wife Kathleen Edith née Nazer (18 December 1913-1 June 2008), who married at Hackney, London in 1938 and in 1939 were living at 22 Adelaide Road, Chalk Farm, Camden, London. After leaving school, where she studied art to A level, Diddy, as she was known, studied photography, film and television at Plymouth College of Art and went on to work in various fields including audio visual aids, educational resources, and a university careers adviser. She married at Newton Abbot, Devon in 1972, Ronald G. Kirton and paints under the name of Diddy Kirton. Throughout her life Diddy has maintained her interest in art, producing original greeting cards and seeking opportunities to use her creativity in her work through exhibition display and poster designs. About 2004 Diddy returned to painting and on retirement became a free-lance, and on taking up watercolours has benefited from studying with Angie Dartnell (born 1944), Christopher Ryland and Belinda King and her work has developed to include both acrylic and oil. She had her first solo exhibition at the Quay Theatre Gallery, Sudbury in 2009 and has exhibited with the Assington Group of Artists and has also exhibited at various venues including the Edmund Gallery, Bury St Edmund's. A former associate Member Suffolk Open Studios from her studio at 23 Springfield Road, Sudbury, Suffolk and exhibited at the 'Visions of Sudbury' show at St Peter's church, Sudbury in 2007 a watercolour 'St Gregory's Church'. She is the author of 'Dear Life Coach' (2010).
