Chlöe Jowett

As Chlöe Elisabeth Brayn, she was born at Nottingham in April 1943. Chloe studied at Stourbridge College of Art and, from the age of 18, at Edinburgh College of Art working under Robin Philipson (1916-1992) where she obtained a diploma, this was followed by a four-year postgraduate scholarship in picture restoration at Hornsey College of Art, in conjunction with the National Gallery under Helmut Ruhemann (1891-1973). Chlöe was invited by the Art and Archive Rescue Fund to Venice, to help set up a restoration unit after one of their periodic floods. Chlöe married at Lambeth, London in 1970, Peter Graham Jowett and now works under the name of Chlöe Jowett. After her marriage she lived with her husband at Sudbury, Suffolk from where she taught and painted for many years. On the death of her husband on 15 July 1983 she made her home at 10 Saint Olafs Wynd, Kirkwall, Isle of Orkney. Chlöe exhibits regularly and her work is represented in the Orkney Islands Council collection.
