GREGG, Kyle
Kyle Robert Gregg was born at Swansea, Glamorgan in 1988, son of Robert J. Gregg and his wife Yoke née Klaverstyn, who married at Cambridge in 1987 and by 1991 had moved to Ipswich where their second son Luke Nicholas was born. In 2010, Kyle graduated from Kingston University, London with a B.A. in Fine Art. This young Ipswich artist shows a series of intricate drawings, each one following the same set of rules e.g., having fifty lines, repeating the structure from a pivotal point. Gregg works with a limited set of materials the framed works will be accompanied by a film, created from the 'Orbit' series. 'Chronograph' explores the imperfections that occur during production, as duplicates of the same drawing rotate at different speeds. The imperceptible flaws create a continuous constantly shifting loop without any discernible beginning or end. Gregg's practice has been based in repetitive freehand drawings, but current studio practice is developing towards larger 3D works and installation. He now lives and works in London.
