GLEESON, Oonagh
Oonagh M. Gleeson was born at Singleton Scarp, Finchley, London in 1936, daughter of Raymond Gleeson (1 January 1905-21 May 1967), a British & Overseas bank manager for the then National Westminster Bank in London, and his wife Winifred Joyce, née Mercer (17 February 1903-2 May 2001), who married at Edmonton, London in 1932. Oonagh studied at Hornsey College of Art and advanced level art at Endleigh College, Hull. She paints mostly from photographs, with most of her work animal-based horses and dogs but has painted views of houses and some scenery and has also worked in watercolours and some small acrylic paintings of Venice. Oonagh uses fine brushes to achieve a detailed finish and has been working and selling oil paintings on commission and from exhibitions since 1968 and has received commissions from as far away as Hong Kong but has exhibited both locally and around the world. Her studio is at 24 Alexander Drive, Needham Market, Ipswich from where she donated works to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction', in 2013 a watercolour 'What's my Name?' and in 2014 'Trio'.
