Julia Pewsey

As Julia Abrahams, she was born at Saffron Walden, Essex in 1962, daughter of Derek J. Abrahams (born 1940) and his wife Betty G. née Law (born 1934). She married at Braintee, Essex in 1988, Robert Pewsey [q.v.] from when she painted under the name of Julia Pewsey. After graduating from the North Essex School of Art in Colchester, she worked in several design studios and became a freelance illustrator in 1990, working mainly for greetings cards, magazines and giftware, with animals and wildlife as her main subjects. Watercolour on a tinted board is her favourite medium which enables her to produce highly detailed paintings from many layers of colour, which she is able to make realistic. Julia has specialised in painting animals and after producing pet portraits for family and friends, decided to concentrate on this area and now paints on commissions. She works from her studio at 1 Causeway Close, Glemsford in Suffolk and her work has been shown in various exhibitions including at the 'Visions of Sudbury' exhibition in 2013 when she displayed 'After the Flood'.
