Katie Green

As Katie Jane Hutchings, she grew up in Yorkshire in a lodge house to a stately home, the lodge house was in the middle of a forest and where Katie fell in love with nature when they first moved there. On leaving school, Katie attended Barnsley College of Art to study Surface Pattern Design where she specialised in weave and print. After several years of being away from a loom, she picked up the shuttle and commenced weaving again. She married at Braintree, Essex in 2005, Alexander W. Green and works under the name of Katie Green. Also, an artist, painting woodland scenes, coastal views and landscapes, working mostly in acrylic and oils using palette knives, brushes, or anything to obtain the texture. Her woven cushion covers are influenced by her paintings, and she uses the most beautiful yarns which include mohair, alpaca, baby alpaca, merino, angora and British wool. Katie has her studio at 8 Clopton Drive, Long Melford, Suffolk and is a member of Suffolk Open Studios.
